My new dress...

I've been on a dress hunt for the last 4-5 days. College graduation is coming up and so is my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary. I need a cute dress or outfit but the problem is I hate how I look right now. Dresses are flattering because they don't factor in your legs in the size. I wear a size 10-12 in jeans but my dress size is a 6-8. To save myself the trouble of realizing a size 11 is tight, I will get a dress.

Day 1 of the dress spree
I searched online for dresses. I look at David's Bridal (they have party dresses), JCPenny, Macys, WetSeal, Charlotte Russe, New York and Company, and Forever 21. I found a few dresses that were in my very small price range and headed to the mall.

JCPenny is under construction so I steered clear of the store because I wasn't in the mood to try and find where they put the junior's dress department. Macy's was lack luster because all the dress styles I liked we too sparkly and too PROM. I did find one woman's dress that I liked but they didn't have my size (6 in womans, 8-12 juniors). I walked through the mall to Gottschalks but I found out they don't have a huge juniors dress department like Macys and JCPenny. I did find a cute purple dress but the material made it so you could see every curve of my butt (crack included). That was definitely a NO. After a discouraging trip to the mall I gave up and decided to go back another day.

2 days later...
I went to Mervyn's at the other mall in town and walked out without trying on anything. I drove BACK to the other mall and tried again. David's Bridal didn't have the dress I wanted in stock and even if they did they only had it in a metallic silver/black. They tried to get me to try on a few other dresses but I wasn't interested. It was very flattering though because the sales girl was like, "Oh well, let me get you a dress that is similar. You are a size....4?" I just said, "Try doubling that." She seemed shocked but is was probably just an act. For ego sake I will say that it wasn't an act... damnit! I am a size 4.... *cough*8*cough*

I decided to brave JCPenny and they had a lot to choose from. I'm not really into the loud colored floral patterns and the disco looking dresses they had but I found the dress I liked online. I tried on three dresses and determined that none of them were good for my body type. Those parachute dresses are not flattering AT ALL.

Charlotte Russe had some cute dresses. I found this turquoise and cream dress, tried it on and got majorly stuck. The dress went over my boobs and bra just fine but coming back over wasn't too great. I am a universal medium, everywhere I go I can grab a medium and it will fit me just right. Lately a medium has gotten tight. I ended up getting the dress off without breaking anything or splitting any seams but I got really angry and left the mall. It was see through anyway so it doesn't matter how cute or small the dress was.

The next day...
I decided Wet Seal didn't have anything appropriate so I skipped them. A couple days before I walked through Forever 21 to get back to my car and I decided they didn't have anything. But then I walked by the store front and saw a mannequin that had a dress I loved. I spent 40 minutes searching the store for that dress and found that they had two left. A medium and a large. I grabbed both and marched to the dressing room. From my experience the day before I decided that even though the dress was a zip up I would try the large on first. To my excitement the dress was WAY too big. The medium was a hair too small but for $29 I couldn't pass it up. So I am now the proud owner of a new dress. I went to Payless Shoes and got a pair of white shoes to kind of match it and went on my way.

I will prevail over the dress....
